' “The new scheme announced by the Minister of Education for the employment of those teachers at present serving under rationing scheme will give general satisfaction to the pimession,” stated Mr G. R, Ashbridge (Secretary to the New Zealand Educational Institute) in an interview today. , . . “The scheme fully meets the claims which have recently been made by the Institute, and provides for standard rates of salary to all trained teachers. It should, of course, be clearly understood that by February of next year 80 per cent, of the present rationed teachers will he needed for noimai staffing requirements. It is, however, very gratifying to soe that surplus teachers will he employed at scale rates until they receive ordinary positions.’ ’
TRAINING COLLEGE STUDENTS.

NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. Interviewed to-day in reference to training students next year, the Minister ‘of Education (the Hon. S. GSmith) said that 550 new students would he admitted to, and allocated between, the Auckland and Christchurch Training Colleges. A number of these would be University graduates, admitted for only one year, but the great majority would be required to undergo a two years course of training. Students who wish to bo admitted to one year's course may apply in anticipation of qualifying for their degrees, in the University examinations now in progress. Education Boards may accept applications up to November 18.
