SPORTS PROTECTION.

THE ASHBURTON ASSOCIATION. TO SUSPEND OPERATIONS. The Mid-Canterbury Sports Protection Association, which was formed in 1932, decided to suspend its operations at a meeting of delegates last evening, and to hand over its records to the Ashburton Sports Association, which was responsible for its formation, so that it could be revised if necessary. The president (Mr G. C. Nicoll) presided at the meeting. It was reported! that only 18 clubs that originally joined the association were now affiliated, and as the clubs did not appear to take advantage of its existence there was no necessity for the association to function. It was agreed that the balance oi the funds, be handed over to the Ashburton Sports Association.
