YOUNG WOMAN FATALLY SNJUREID. ' (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Miss Marion Howell, aged 23, this morning from injuries she suffered when her cycle collided with a.-motor-cycle ridden by James Alexander Nicholl. The collision happened at the cornel' of Harman Street and Lincoln Road at 7.45 this morning. Miss Howell suffered injuries to her head and died in the ambulance while being taken to the Public Hospital. Nicholl suffered minor injuries.

BOY CYCLIST INJURED. TAUMARUNU'I, October 29. Leslie Styles, aged 16, was riding a bicycle this afternoon when he collided with a lorry driven by Mr A. J. Taylor. The boy was picked up unconscious and admitted to the Taumarunui Hospital with a fractured skull.

MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED, DUNEDIN, October 29. Mr John Garland, aged 49, fell while attempting to hoard a moving tramcar this affernoon and suffered severe head injuries. He was admitted to the hospital and placed on the dangerously ill list. INJURIES PROVE FATAL. MASTERTON, October 29. Mr Eugene O’Sullivan, aged 69, who was dragged by a horse on a farm near Masterton on'Saturday and who was admitted to hospital with head injuries, died this morning. A verdict of accidental death was returned. Mr O’Sullivan was handling a young horse which broke away. Tim rope became entangled in Mr O’Sullivan’s feet and he was dragged for some distance. ,

MAN’S FATAL INJURIES. AUCKLAND, October 29. Attracted by a loud explosion in a bedroom occupied by her brother, Aldred Luke Donnelly, a widower, aged 48, of Upper Queen Street, his sister, Mrs Walters, entered the room this morning to find him terribly injured about the head. Ho died soon after wards. At the inquest, P. L. Donnelly said his brother had spoken of taking liis life at times, but little attention had been paid to it. He had been on sustenance for some time, and had recently been ordered to camp. He was an expert in the use of explosives, but the witness had never seen any in the house. The inquest was adjourned.

MAN DROWNED AT NELSON. NELSON, October 28. A fatal accident occurred at the Glen this morning, when Mr Hector William Gordon Robertson, aged 32, of Washington Valley, was drowned after the swamping of a small boat in which he and a companion intended to spend the day fishing. Mr Robertson, accompanied by Mr Percy McConchie, of. Milton Street, left Nelson by car early this morning, taking with them a small boat. They launched the boat from the beach at the Glen. The sea was comparatively calm, but a little water was shipped in getting the boat past the surf. They rowed out some distance when a wave larger than the others was encountered and the boat was swamped, sinking stern first.

Both occupants started to swim for the shore, with Mr Robertson in the lead. Mr McConchie, who was wearing gumhoots, caught his companion and handed him an oar to assist him. When a little distance away, Mr McConchie saw the other man disappear. Mr McConchie, who was not a strong swimmer, was encumbered by his gumhoots, but ho managed to reacn the beach in a stato of collapse. He crawled on hands and knees to the house of Mr A. W. Wastney. Mr Robertson leaves a widow and one child.
