OLD ITALIAN FLAG.
FLYING OVER ADOWA.
PRESERVED FROM 189 G RETREAT
(United Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.35 a.m.) ROME, October 28.
The Italian flag flying over Adowa is the one hauled down when the Italians were defeated in 1896. An Abyssinian handed it to General Maravigua when he took possession of the town, stating that he was a telegraph clerk and had always loved Italy. When the Italians retreated he secured it and jealously preserved the flag.
CELEBRATION OF THE MARGH.
THE ARMIES AT THE FRONT. (Received This Day, 1.25 p.m. LONDON, October 28. The Rome correspondent of “The Times” states that messages from Eritrea show that the troops were eager to celebrate the anniversary of the Fascist march on Rome with a general assault, but were consoled with a special ration of wine and mandarins and a- double issue of cigarettes. They sang Fascist anthems, fired feux de joie, lit bonfires at night, and knotted* patrioti-cally-decorated handkerchiefs round their rifles and cannon. General de Bono telegraphed the armies’ greetings to Signor Mussolini.
TYPHOID AMONG THE ITALIANS.
ROME, October 27. Sir Aido Castellani, a famous Italian physician of London, reports that cases of typhoid have occurred among Italian troops, but there have been no deaths. The health of the natives in the occupied zones is also- satisfactory. Cases of leprosy have been detected among prisoners'of war, but the medical corps was prepared for that. Leprosy those days is by no means incurable, and its spread can be prevented.
