RAIN CONTINUES AT INTERVALS.

39 POINTS UP TO 9 A.M. With 39 points for the 24 hours ended at 9 o’clock this morning, the rainfall since Saturday totals 90 points, and makes a total for the month of 1.12 inches. At Tinwald 42 points were registered for the 24 hours. Conditions were showery overnight, and rain fell at intervals again to-day, when the sky was heavily overcast and a cold wind blew from the south-west. The ground is in a state to receive all the moisture it can get, and this steady rain should stimulate growth wonderfully. The barometer is very low. At 9 a.m. the reading was 29.38 inches, compared with 29.82 inches yesterday. Maximum and minimum temperatures yesterday and last night were 51.6 degrees and 47 degrees respectively. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather General inference: A widespread cyclonic depression still covers the eastern Tasman Sea and New Zealand, its centre at 9 a.m. being located off the west coast of the South Island. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:Moderate to strong north-easterly to easterly winds, changing to southerly temporarily within 24 hours. Weather still dull and misty, with further, and in places heavy, ram; cooler to-morrow. Seas rather'rough to rough.
