MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Methven Trotting Club was presided over by Mr T. S. Handson. Others present were Messrs J. McAnulty, H. Green, R. ID. Millar, C. Goodwin, F. S. McDonald, J. McCloy, T. Ross, L. L. Richards and S. G. Holmes.

Votes of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr J. Connolly, M.P., also with Mr G. Kelly in his bereavement, were carried in silence.

It was decided to accept J. Mauger’s offer for the lease of the racecourse for a further term,, the conditions to be the same as formerly.

The Oamaru Jockey Club wrote asking for information on the working of the new system at the scales at the recent meeting. It was decided to reply that this had given every satisfaction, with a small amount outstanding. Mr S. Buckett (postmaster) wrote that Mr S. G. Holmes (president) had been added to the health stamp campaign committee; and Mr Holmes agreed to act. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr O. von Sierakoiwkski for his donation of a wire frame for the balloon.

The secretary presented an interim statement of accounts in connection with the recent meeting, which showed a satisfactory credit balance. The president (Mr s'. G. Holmes) thanked members of the committee for the loyal support accorded him on the day of the meeting. He said smooth working had greatly assisted in bringing the meeting to such a successful conclusion. Two new members were elected.
