NO SETTLEMENT

REEFTON MINERS’ DISPUTE. (Per Press Association). REEFTON, Oct. 17. The committee under the Labour Disputes Investigation Act sat yesterday under the chairmanship of Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., in reference to the wages dispute between the Blackwaters miners and Blackwater Mines, Ltdi. The miners asked for an increase of two shillings a day and of five shillings a foot or fathom for contrac t-ors. The company suggested paying the same Tates as had been agreed upon at Waihi, plus the extra amount always paid on this field, as compared with similar work at Waihi. No agreement was arrived at, and the matter has been referred to the Minister of Labour.
