MR CARR CHOSEN
THE NATIONALIST CANDIDATE.
FOR MID-CANTERBURY SEAT.
ACCEPTANCE OF NOMINATION.
LONG PUBLIC SERVICE. Mr James Carr, of “Rudstone,” Methven, was this afternoon selected as the Nationalist candidate for the Mid-Canterbury seat at the general election next month. Mr Carr has accepted the nomination.
The selection was made at a largely attended and enthusiastic meeting which commenced at Tl o’clock this morning and resumed for 75 minutes this afternoon. Four candidates were submitted to a ballot.
Mr Carr has had a long .public body career in Mid-Canterbury. He is at present a member of the Ashburton County Council, the Ashburton Electric Power Board, the Farmers’ Union, the Atethven Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the Wheat Research Committee, and the Wheat Marketing Board. He is also a director of the Mount 'Hlutt Dairy Company and was at one time chairman of the Mount Hutt ltoad Board, while he'had a term of two years on the Meat Producers’ Board.
