DENTAL CLINICS
REMOVAL OF LEVY URGED.
THREAT OF REFUSAL TO PAY.
(Special to the “Guardian.”) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day
A resolution urging the Government to forgo the levy of £3O a year on school dental clinic committes was carried unanimously after a long discussion at a combined meeting last evening of delegates to the Canterbury School Committees’ Association and members of clinic committees. The calling of the meeting was the outcome of difficulties met with by nearly every clinic committee in Canterbury in raising the levy. It was contended that this charge was instituted as a temporary measure only and it was tlie opinion of the meeting that the financial position of the country warranted remission. Several delegates urged that the committees should take a firm stand and definitely refuse to pay. At the same time they took the opportunity to air several grievances, the outcome of limited financial resources. Mr J. G. Brown (chairman of the School Committees’ Association) presided, and there were 34 delegates present.
