LIGHTNING STRIKES CAR.

PAINT BLISTERED OFF. An alarming experience, fortunately/ not attended with any serious results, befell Mr W. M. Holland while motoring across a paddock at McLennan’s Bush, during the height of'the thunderstorm on Monday.

There was a deaftening roar of thunder, followed by a fork of lightning* which struck the bonnet of his car in two places. An area of more than a foot square of paint was blistered off in each place, and the bonnet was ribbed in rough lines where the lightning struck it. Except for a temporary shock, the driver received no ill-effects. Accompanying the storm was a heavy hail shower, and hail lay on the ground to a depth of nearly three \ inches.
