DOMINION PRODUCE. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated October 5, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand:— Tallow—Auctions will be held on October 9. Market firm and prices continue to advance.

Eggs—Market steady, with firmer tendency. English, National pack, 14s to 18s; English, ordinary pack, 15s to 16s 6d; Danish, 11s 6d to 13s; Australian. 11s to 12s 6d.

GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. CHRISTCHURCH, October 7. Since the last quotations for the grain and produce markets, prices have not changed. In the potato market there is little business being done, only small lots being offered. It is expected that the demand will quicken this week. The grain and flour market is also quiet. Following are nominal prices quoted to be paid to farmers on trucks at country stations, sacks extra unless otherwise mentioned:—

Potatoes—Prompt delivery, Sutton’s Supreme £ls, Dakotas £ls, white £ls. Milling Wheat—October delivery: Tuscan 4s sd, Hunters 4s 7d, Pearl and Velvet 4s 9d, f.o.b. Belling prices to millers for October (all f.0.b.): Tuscan 5s o|d, Hunters 5s 2£d, Pearl and Velvet 5s 4£d. Fowl Wheat—3s 9d to 3s lOd, South Island.' Ex Wheat Purchase Board: 4s Id, f.0.b., for North Island only, and 4s 4d for South Island. . _ Bran—Local, £4 15s; shipping, £4 10s. , . __ t Pollard—Local, £6 ss; slapping, £5 . 10 Flour—Local £l2 7s; shipping £ll 12s, with the usual increments tor smaller lots. SOUTH OTAGO FREEZING CO.

DIVIDEND OF 8 PER CENT. . DUNEDIN, October 7. , The annual report of the South Otago Freezing Company shows that the company had a prosperous yeai. The number of sheep and lambs put through the works totalled 1 with, the addition of 2855 cattle and 1834 pigs. The previous year’s figures were 295,300, 4188 and 824 respectively. After making provision for depreciation and transferring £9OO to reserve for income tax, £SOOO to general reserve, and £I2OO to reserve for loss against consignment advances, the profit remaining, including last year s balance, is £17,348. It is proposed to pay a dividend of 8 per cent., absorbing £5304, and to carry forward the balance of £12,043. The dividend last- year was 8 pel cent.
