COUNTY MANAGER SHOT.

WHILE CLIMBING THROUGH FENCE. While on his farm at Rawene yesterday, Mr lit. B. Russell (Cbunty manager of the Hokianga County Council) fatally shot himself accidentally when getting through a fence. He has a brother, Mr J. Russell, and three sisters, the Misses Russell and Mrs L. Hill, residing in Ashburton. Mr R.ussell had intended to stand as the National Political Federation’s candidate for the Bay of Islands seat against Cajjtain H. M. Rush worth, the sitting member.
