VICAR INDUCTED

SERVICE AT TINWALD. THE REV. H. P. CHILDS WELCOMED.,

At St. Andrew’s Church, Tinwald, last evening, the Rev. H. P. Childs was inducted as vicar of the Tinwald Parochial District by the Ven. Archdeacon, A. J. Petrie, who waS‘ assisted by the Rev. TV. Williams, of Mount Somers.

In spite of the wet evening there was a good congregation and a

thoughtful and earnest address was given by the Arcnueacon. Following the service a very pleasant social was held in the parish hall and musical items were rendered by the Misses Watt and Clark (pianoforte solos), Miss Opie (song), Mr S. M. Cassidy (song) and Mr H. H. Hawkins (recitations). Speeches of welcome were given by the Ven. Archdeacon Petrie, the Rev. D. D. Mt Lachlan, Mr George Blee and Mr M. P. Cooke. In the absence of the Church Warden (Mr R. D. Robinson), Mr M. P. Cooke presided.

Mrs Cooke welcomed the Vicar on behalf of the Ladies’ Guild and the Mothers’ Union.

The Rev. H. P. Childs, in witty vein, thanked the speakers for their kindly welcome and a dainty supper brought to a close an enjoyable evening.
