INCREASE IN THE REVENUE. EXPENDITURE ALSO HIGHER. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, October 7. Tlie General Manager of Railways (Mr G. H. Gross revenue (£479,864) increased by £29,321, and expenditure (£440,835) by £23,977, as compared with ! the corresponding period of last year, making a net revenue of £39,029, or an increase of £5344 over last year. The expenditure this year included the 5 per cent, increase in salaries and wages, amounting for the four weeks to approximately £i2,000, so that apart from this item there was an increase in expenditure of £11,977, against an increase of £29,321 in revenue. For the six four-weekly, periods o. the current financial year to date, revenue increased by £124,761 and expenditure, which includes approximately £72,000 for the 5 per cent, addition to salaries and wages, by £137,576, leaving a decrease of £12,815 in net revenue.
