LOSS BY FIRE

TECHNICAL SCHOOL BUILDING.

FINE PRACTICALLY NEW BLOCK

(Per Press Association.) DARGAVILLE, This Day,

The Manual Technical Department of the Ruawai District High School was destroyed by fire last night. The building was practically a new. one, the finest of its kind in the Dominion, re- , ferred to as a model school under the consolidated plan. The main buildings, also a garage and motor buses were saved by the strenuous efforts of a bucket brigade, organised by nearby settlers, as no water supply is available. It was fortunate the building was de tached or the whole of the fine block would have been destroyed. The origin of the fire is not known. Cookery instructions were given in the building in the afternoon and it is suspected a defective chimney was the cause.
