ROAD BOARD

THE WAKANUI DISTRICT . The Wakanui Road Board met yesterday afternoon, when there were present: Messrs F. Frampton (chaiiman), L. Hanralian, A. Bennett and J. W. Watson. The Ashburton County Council wrote saying that it had decided to carry out river protective works at Hakatere at a cost of £63 11s, the Acclimatisation Society having agreed to contribute £25 toward the cost. The board agreed to make a contribution of £lO. Reports on works showed that grading had been carried out ' during the last month on Le Breton’s, Buckley’s, Collison’s, Winter’s, Hampton’s, Christie’s, and Chertsey roads. In addition to concrete pipes already on order for replacing water-races with culverts on Chertsey, Le Breton’s and Denshire’s roads, it was reported that a. set of pipes had been ordered for Fairfield Road.
