PRELIMINARY TO MOBILISATION-
United Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.20 p.m.) LONDON, October 1.
The Addis' Ababa, correspondent of “The Times,” in a copyright message, states that though the report was not officially confirmed, the Emperor telegraphed to- his son-in-law, lias Desta, a middle-aged chief with much knowledge of warfare, asking him to leave Sidamo for Addis Ababa to take command of the capital l in case of the absence of the Emperor. His soldiery will not necessarily follow, since other dispositions are already planned. Addis Ababa is busily preparing for war, which is believed to be inevitable. The market is packed with buyers of saddles and belts** many satisfying themselves with rawhide, which is pouring from the interior. Other leading purchases are cartridges and water bottles.
Thirty thousand provincial soldiers, fully provisioned and adequately billeted, surround; the city. It only then remain for citiens to complete their supplies before mobilisation is decreed.
Opinion grows in official circles that war wilt begin on Wednesday, October 9.
