MR HAYMAN ALIVE
CAPTIVE WITH FRIEND IN CHINA
BOTH MEN IN POOR HEALTH

Mr A. Hayman, the missionary from Auckland, New Zealand, who was captured by Reds a year ago, was seen alive on September 15. A Chinese messenger who was sent to North-west Hunan to resume negotiations with the Reds for the release of Mr Hayman and Mr Bbsshaidt found both men in poor health.
Mi* A. Hayman, a native of Auckland (New Zealand), Mr R. A. Bosshardt, of England, and Miss G. Emblem, of Canada—three missionaries attached to the China Inland Mission—were captured on October 1 last, eighty miles east of Kweiyang, capital of the Kweichow Province. They were carried off when Red outlaws attacked the small town of Chenyuan. Mr Hayman has been with the China Inland Mission since 1913. He was in charge of the mission at Kweiyang. Mrs Hayman a native of the Isle of Wight, was married! to Mr Hayman in 1928.
