AN ORGANISING OFFICER.
CANTERBURY AND WESTLAND.

Mr George J. Watt has been appointed area officer of the Farmer's* Union for Group 3, which is the name for the new combined district of Canterbury and W’estland' under the Union’s reorganisation scheme. He will commence his duties next week in Mi d-Canterbury. Mr Watt was born in Banffshire (Scotland), where he had experience in mixed farming. For some time he was in business, and for a period he served in the Scots Guards. In 1926 Mr Watt come to New Zealand. He was for 44 years with Mr John Doig, cf Chertsey. From there he was, appointed to the Lincoln College staff as farm foreman, which position lie has held for the last 4i years. In addition to his practical knowledge of farming, Mr Watt has taken a commeicial course in his spar© time, and should therefore be well equipped .foi his appointment.
