Mr H. D. Acland has been re-elected president of the Christchurch Citizens’ Association.

Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P., was a passenger for Tlmaru by the express train this morning.

Mr J. Talbct, of Fairlie, South Island representative on the Main Highways Board, was a passenger for Timaru by the express train this morning.

Mr H. B. S. Johnstone, a member of the Transport Co-crdination Board, was a passenger by the express this morning on his way to his home at Otaio.

Mr C. J. King, who has been on the staff at the Ashburton Post Office for some years, has been advised of his transfer to Hinds as postmaster. He will take up his new duty next week.

Mr P. R. Harman, who recently relinquished the position of secretary of the South Island Motoir Union, was presented with a mantel clock in recognition of his services at the annual meeting of the union last evening.

Mr F. W. Johnston, retiring president of the South Island Motor Union, was presented with a binocular at the annual dinner of the union last evening. The presentation was made by Mr F. J. Williams (Otago) on behalf of the union.

Miss E. Eagle, who has been a supervisor at the Ashburton Telephone Exchange for 10 years, has been promoted to be at the New Plymouth Exchange. The date of her transfer has not been stated, but will be in the near future.
