NOTHING EXPECTED FROM LEAGUE. NOT ACCEPTING DICTATION (Received This Day, 1.10 p.m.) ROME, September 27
The Italian reaction is that Italy expected nothing from the League and was not mistaken.
Signor Gayda (the noted reiterates that Italy will not accept the League’s dictation, adding that when Japan refused to accept the same principle neither the League nor any other Power reacted.—“Times.*'

Fifty prominent Englishmen, including Lordi Cecil, Lord Lytton, Mr J. R. Clynes, Sir Norman Angell, D'r. H. L.
Dalton, the Bishop of Durham, Sir Walter Layton, Mr John Masefield and Sir Herbert Samuel 1 , have sent a letter to M. Laval saying: “We arc determined to uphold the British Government in its decision to apply collective resistance to aggression, and this is also the determination of the majority of Englishmen. Collective resistance must be applied not only in respect of Abyssinia, but against aggression in Europe and elsewhere. The impressive domonstiations in France in favour of defending international justice have greatly encouraged us.”
