RAKAIA The monthly meeting of the Methodist Ladies’ -Guild was held m the church. The secretary reported that arrangements were well in hand for the sale ,of work to be held in the Scout Hall on Wednesday. It was decidedl to put the proceeds of the sale into the building fund for the new Bible class loom. WILLOWBY. The fifty-third anniversary of the Methodist Church was celebrated yesterday, when the Rev. Samuel Bailey, of Leeston, a. former minister of the circuit, occupied the pulpit. Large congregations assembled at both services, In the morning the preacher took as his test Psalms 34, 8:“0 taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.” The choir, under the leadership of Mr A. S. Hay man, rendered the anthem “Ye shall dwellJn the land,” the soloists being Miss Ethelwynne and Mr Hubert Hayman. “The last step” was the subject for the evening address, based upon Matthew 26, 39: “He went a little farther.” A hymn-study, “These things shall be,” was sung by the choir. Miss Lill presided at the organ.
