Reports from Sicily and Sardinia declare that they are like armed camps. Seventy Italian submarines are concentrated at Augusta, and other warships and aeroplanes are continually arriving. Other activities in the Mediterranean continue. Greece has recalled vaiships from a visit to Constantinople, with orders to concentrate at Salamis. Warships are patrolling the lonian Islands.
Spain is strengthening the garrison at Ceuta and) increasing fortifications at the Balearic Islands. The Turks are reported to he strengthening their coastal fortifications and assembling troops and supplies.

LONDON, September 21
The P. and O', shipping line has cancelled the Strathmore’s maiden voyage to the Mediterranean, including
Italian ports, because of the international situation. Instead the Strathmore will leave next Friday on a 17 days’ cruise to the Canary Isles. The company informed) the Sun-Herald News Service that several passengers had been nervous about the Mediterranean, and consequently it was thought best to change the programme. Four other companies are diverting liner cruises to the Atlantic from tho Mediterranean.

The Columbia Broadcasting Company at the request of the British Foreign Office, cancelled a broadcast to America by Mr F. W. Rickett lest it should revive the false impression that Mr Rickett was connected with the British Government.
STOCKS FALLING IN LONDON.
REAL NERVOUSNESS DENIED
LONDON, September 21.
The city editor of “The Times” says that though gilt-edged stocks have fallen to tho lowest points of the year it isi easy to exaggerate the importance of this. It is incorrect to say that there is any real nervousness. Jobbers were obliged to mark prices down sharply, owing to continental selling in a market where buyers are few. The city editor of the “Manchester Guardian” says there is no indication of big investment houses coming on the market, and sales though considerable, are mainly by small investors.
NERVOUSNESS ON WALL STREET STOCKS AND COMMODITIES FA'LL NEW YORK, September 21. Though perviously there had been comparative calmness, war fear gripped the securities market to-day and, in liea.vy selling, stocks and speculative bonds lost from one to four points. Grains and other commodities are erratic. There was heavy selling of Italian Government and industrial bonds.
ITALIAN DEBTS TO BRITAIN.
OVER £2,000,000 OUTSTANDING. (Received This Day, 12.10 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 21. Under the Italian-British trade and payments agreement £2,060,84 was outstanding and awaiting transfer into sterling for payment to British creditors last Monday.—British Official Wireless.
