THE CHATEAU AFFRAY
NOT REPORTED TO THE POLICE.

WELLINGTON, September 19.
“The matter has not been reported to us yet officially,” said the Commissioner of Police (Mr W. G. Wohlmann) when asked to-day if the Department proposed to take any action in connection with the disturbance reported to have occurred at the Chateau Tongariro on Monday, when Mr Cobbe (the manager) received serious injury to his head while remonstrating, it is said, with some visitors in the early hours of the morning. The Commissioner said that the police were making inquiries. Mr Cohbe wjis still in the hospital and would be unable to talk to the police for a week or two. Mr Wohlmann indicated that the affair was not as sensational as it had appeared from the press reports.
