LAND VALUES
A REFERENCE QUESTIONED. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 18. Mr C. A. Wilkinson recently, asked the Minister of Agriculture whether lie had noticed a report in the Press of a statement made by Lord Bledisloe, in which New Zealand land was tiesscribed in exaggerated terms of value, and whether the Government was in any way responsible for the statement, which was calculated to mislead people in England. The Hon. C. E. Macmillan replied as follows: Lord Blesdisloe wxa v»wy closely in touch witlis farming practice during his residence in New Zealand, and ho was well acquainted with the productive value of New Zealand land, together with its possibilities and limitations. The Government have no knowledge of the statement mentioned beyond the Press report, hut it is possible that in the process of condensing Lord Bledisloe's remarks some confusion of terms may have occurred, with the result that an erroneous interpretation of his meaning has unwittingly resulted.
