MODEL THEATRE

EXHIBITED IN LONDON. Princess Made Louise recently declared open for public exhibition one of the most remarkable models of our time, the- Jubilee Miniature Theatre, says the “Daily Telegraph.” The opening ceremony took place at the Building Centre, 158 New Bond Street, when there were present a. large gathering of stage celebrities and others. They included Sir John Mart inHarvey (Lady Martin-Harvey provided a large number of beautifully-dressed dolls used in the model), Sir Cedric Hardwicke, Dame May Whitty, Mr George Rose (the originator of the scheme), and Sir Archibald Weigall. This model, winch stands Bft. Gin. from the ground and is 14ft. square, has an auditorj/um with 1500 midget seats. A marble floor lias been laid in the foyer andl water laid! on to the shower bath in the star’s dressingroom.

Fifty British firms and 500 skilled workmen have helped to make the tiny theatre perfect in every detail clown to tli settees in tlie circle bar and the beautifully dressed figures playing a scene of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” on the miniature revolving stage, with its ultra-modern lighting scheme.

T'lxo model was to remain on exhibition in London for a. fortnight. "Then it was planned to take it on tour in a specially-constructed tractor and van to the principal centres in the provinces.

The proceeds from the exhibitions in London andl elsewhere are being handed over to tlie various theatrical charities, this being the desire of Mr George Rose, a Lancashire business man, who first conceived the idea of creating a. model of the model theatre.
