Sectional play in the New Zealand women’s hockey championships concluded to-day in good weather. Both Eastern and South Otago won comfortably to-day, and so will meet in the final to-morrow, the winner taking the K Cup and the losers the Floyd Shield. The runners-up in each section, Southland and Ruahine, will also meet tomorrow in the contest for the Annie Holden Cup. The final positions in the sectional play were as fellow: — A Section. Eastern 12 Southland 10 Poverty Bay A 6 Canterbury 0 Auckland 6 Marlborough 1 Bush. 1 B Section. South Otago 11 Ruahine 7 Akitio 7 Ashburton 7 Wellington 7 Poverty Bay B 2 Wairarapa 1 To-day Eastern, for the first time in the tournament, had a goal scored against it, thus giving the team a record of 25 goals for and one against. Results: — A Sect on. Eastern beat Southland, 5-1. Southland beat Canterbury, 5-4. iPovertv Bay A beat Marlborough, 2-0. B Secton. South Otago beat Wairarapa, 4-0. Wellington beat Akitio, 1-0. Ruahine beat Poverty Bay B, 3-0. Ashburton had a bye.
