Mr J. R. Richardson (Ashburton Borough Inspector) has been appointed an officer for the purposes of the Sale of Food and Drugs Act, 1908, states the Gazette.

Major E. C. D. Witliell, of Mayfield, (second-in-command of the First Battalion, Canterbury Regiment) has been transferred to the Reserve of Officers, class 1 (b), R.D. 10. A Gazette notice to this effect is dated August 8.

Mr P. Baigent,. who has been in the employ of Mr W. H. Amos, land and estate agent, for over a year, has been appointed to a position in the Public Service Commissioner’s office, Wellington. He will leave for the north on Monday.
