LEVELLED.
(Per Press Association.) WAIiPUKURAU, August 29. A south-westerly gale of exceptional severity, rivalling that on Saturday last, has been raging since yesterday. The electric supply has been intermittent since this morning. Wireless masts, trees, fences and sheds have suffered. A private garage was completely demolished and the car damaged. At Takapuna outbuildings were carried bodily five chains across the road and fell on the telephone line. Communication as far south as Palmerston North has been interfered with. An uprooted tree damaged the line to Porangahau near Arlington station, and also temporarily impeded traffic.
