OFFICERS ELECTED
COUNTIES’ ASSOCIATION.
(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 29. The following officers were elected at the conference of the New Zealand Counties’ Association: —
President, M l ' C. J. Talbot (Fairlie); vice-presidents, Messrs J. Ritchie (Bannockburn), W. Morrison (Maxwell); executive committee, Messrs J. W. Anderson (Tirau), W. G. Belton (Waverley), K. W. Dalrymple (Bulls), G. A. Monk (Reikorangi), W. Marshall (Paeroa), C. Matthews (Gisborne), W. Tucker (Whakatu), M. Bethell (Amuri), F. R. Flatman (Geraldine), W. M. Norman (Southland), P. F. Ryan (Paparua), and the Hon. W. H. Mclntyre (Millerton). Mr G. A. Monk was elected auditor.
Appreciation of the services, rendered by Mr A. E. Jull, M.P., to the association and local body government generally was expressed in tangible manner in the presentation of a handsome silver salver on his retirement from the office of president after 31 years’ continuous service in that capacity. At the express wish of Mr Jull, a map of New Zealand will be engraved on the salver, and will be divided up into the boundaries of the 123 counties.
A resolution was carried placing on record Mr Jull’s valuable services to the New Zealand Counties’ Association during his continuous presidency of 31 years, and his’ability, zeal, untiring efforts, far-sighted statesmanship, and pleasing personality, whereby he had received the hearty co-operation, goodwill, and gratitude of all engaged in local body government in New Zealand.
