THE DOMINION TOURNAMENT. ASHBURTON WINS FIRST MATCH. WELLINGTON, This Day. The Dominion basketball tournament was commenced at Mount Cook tins morning in perfect playing weathei. There was not a cloud in the sky, and a light southerly wind was blowing. The following were the results of matches played this morning: Manawatu beat Marlborough, 25-16. Wairoa drew with Southland minor, 13 all. . Auckland beat Waikato, 21-7.. Wellington beat Hawke’s Bay, 20-10. Wellington minor beat Wairarapa, 18-14. , South Canterbury beat V est Coast. 28-2. Ashburton beat Bush, 18-13. Southland beat Poverty Bay, 18-2. Nelson beat Wanganui, 13-8. Marlborough beat North Auckland; 12-7. Otago beat Canterbury, 9-6. Taranaki heat Rotorua, 23-G.
