AN EASING TENDENCY.

ASHBURTON STOCfK MARKET.

MEDIUM QUALITY ENTRY TO-DAY

The weekly stock market at the Ashburton saleyards to-day saw an easing tendency in lines of fat sheep. The entry was a medium quality one, and there was not a great deal of competition. ,

Although prime ewes were scarce, values were not so firm as those ruling at Tinwald last week. Fat ewes reached 23s Id for six auctioned on (behalf of Mr J. Gregory (Seafield). Other lines from the coastal districts made good prices, Mrs C. iPage (Wakanui) selling six at 21s 7d and Mrs E. M. Begg (Wakanui) five at 20s 7d. A client topped the fat wether market with two at 24s 7d. Messrs Peter Doig (Chertsey) and T. J.n Lamb (Hinds) made sales of seven and three respectively at 24s Id. Sales up to mid-day were as follow: Fat Ewes —On account of F. J. Blee (Ashton), Bat 13s lOd; C. F. Frampton (Wakanui), 1 at 18s 6d, 1 at 17s; Mrs E. M. Begg (Wakanui), 5 at 20s 7d, 5 at 17s lOd; A. Chalmers (Lismore), 5 at 18s 4d, 3 at 18s Id, 5 at 17s 4d, 3 at 16s lOd; J. Gregory (Seafield), 6 at 23s Id; W. Langdon (Valetta), 4 at 19s lOd, 7 at 17s lOd, 7 at 17s 7d, 8 at 16s 4d; Mrs.C. Page '(Wakanui), 6 at 21s-7d; clients, 1 at 18s 6d, 9 at 15s lOd, 1 at 17s 3d, 11 at 17s 4d, 1 at 14s 6d, 7 at 10s 4d. Fat Wethers —On account of Mrs E. M.
