SOCIAL CREDIT

NEW REGIME IN ALBERTA.

WARNING BY OTHER 1 PROVINCES.

NO SUPPORT IN EXPERIMENT.

(United Press Association —Copyright)

(Received This D'ay, 1.10 p.m.) MONTREAL, August 26.

A Calgary (Alberta) message says: Mr Aberhart states that the Social Credit legislature will be called to meet on September 3. The Reid Government has resigned. Mr W. Alberhart (leader of the Social Credit Party) states that social credit bonuses of 25 dollars a month will not be paid if it threatens Alberta with bankruptcy. Predicting a new election in Alberta within six -months, the Premier of Quebec (Mr Taschereau) warns Mr Aberhart that he cannot expect the other provinces to make sacrifices, through the House of Commons, to help Alberta’s fantastic experiment. Mr G. G. McGeer (Mayor of Vancouver), who is back from his Alberta campaign on behalf of the Liberals, declares that Mr Aberhart’s promise of 25 dollars a month is the most cruel hoax ever perpetrated on a suffering people hv a group of visionary, impractical political adventurers.

Mr Aberhart’s proposal is to pay a basic dividend, thntatively of 25 dollars a month to every adult and an allowance for children from a levy on the unearned increment in non-negoti-able certificates to be issued by a. proposed credit office. A just price would be fixed by a commission.
