SENSATIONAL THEFT

PAY CLERK ROBBED OF £4OO.

(Per Press Association). HASTINGS, July 31

A sensational theft, involving the sum of £4OO, was committed by some unknown person in Hastings this afternoon, the victim being a mans named Dolbel, employed as a clerk by the Hawke’s Bay Hospital Board. It is stated that Dolbel came ’ to Hastings from Napier carrying £4OO in notes and silver to pay the staff at the Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital at Hastings. He went into a public lavatory in Railway Road, and was suddenly overcome by faintness. It seems that he went into a complete faint. When he regained consciousness his money had gone. .

Dolbel at once reported the theft to the Hastings police.
