MR COATES' STATES! POSITION. (United Press Association— Copyright) SAN FRANCISCO, July 30, In an interview with a representative of the Australian Asociated Press to-day, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates said that during his brief visit to Washington he was received by Mr Roosevelt, to whom lie suggested the desirability of a reciprocal trade agreement between the United States and .New Zealand. Preliminary negotiations rov such an agreement, he said, were now under way at Washington. “The trade balance is three to one in America’s favour,” he Raid. ' We must try to equalise the balance by America buying more of our goods.” Mr Coates predicted that Imperial Airways and Pan American Airways rvould extend their services to connect Australia, New Zealand and America by 1937. _ ■ Mr Coates will sail for New Zealand to-morrow by the Maunganui.
