TRAPS AND MINIATURE RIFLES.
RIFLE CLUB WINS MATCH. Bitterly cold conditions prevailed for the shoot held on Saturday afternoon by the Methven Gun Club. A pro-, gramme of four shoots was held, the principal one being the annual interclub match with the Methven Miniature Rifle Club for the D.C.L. challenge shield. The teams consist of eight men, and the first match is held over the clay traps, at which the Gun Club team is allowed one point in the handicap for each yard behind 12yds, while 'the Rifle Club all shot off 12yds. Two points are allowed for a first-barrel and owe for the second-barrel shot with both teams.
in the evening the match was concluded at the rifle range, all scores being off the rifle. The result was a win for the Rifle Club, with a total of 702, against 677._ At the conclusion of the shoot Mr A. E. Wilson (president of the Gun Club), in handing over the shield, congratulated the ltifle Club on its success. Mr J. E. Carr (captain) thanked the Gun Club for its sporting spirit in making the match possible. A trophyy donated by the Gun Club, for the best aggregate over the two shoots, was won by J. Rouse, with a total of 98. . i Details are:
