JOURNEY ON SKATES

HUNDRED MILES COMPLETED. (Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. Stanley Mockford, of Taukau, Auckland, on (Saturday evening completed his circuit of Mount E'gmont on skates. The journey of more than 100 miles on bitumen roads was covered within four days. Ho had intended to sleep in sheds or in the open, but the people on the route took a keen interest in the exploit and provided him with food and shelter. The difficulty of descending the steeper hills was solved by Mockford securing a heavy pine branch which he straddled and used as a brake.
