WELLINGTON CITY WORKS. UNEMPLOYMENT BOARD’S AID. APPROXIMATELY 300 MEN. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Following a conference with the Minister of Employment (the Hon. S. S. Smith) recently, the City Council today received from the Unemployment Board a letter offering, in respect to certain loan works, a subsidy of 12 per cent, on the capital cost, or, in the alternative, 35s per man weekly in respect to each married man taken from the unemployment register.

The Council expressed gratification at the Board’s offer, which was accepted. It was decided that approximately 300 of the most efficient workers be employed for the remainder of the financial year at full standard rates.
