THE WINTER SHOW.
ASHBURTON FANCIERS’ SOCIETY. TO-MORROW AND ON FRIDAY. The Ashburton Fanciers’ Society’s winter show will be held to-morrow and on Friday and with entries well in excess of those for last year’s exhibition the show promises to be most successful. All sections have been well patronised and with one exception show greater entries than they did last year. Entries total 1348, compared with 117-5 last year, 1139 in 1933, 1099 in 1932 and 906 in 1931, so it can be seen that the society has made rapid progress in recent years. Its position is being established on a sound basis and the officers are justly proud of this year’s effort. To ensure the cookery and needlework exhibits being free from dust, these classes will be. displayed in the Tancred Street Hall, an entrance having been, made from the rear of the usual premises. This is a departure which will be much appreciated by competitors, as the dust nuisance in the show premises, where there is an earthen floor, lias been extensive in past years. Judging will be commenced early tomorrow morning. An added attraction this year will be the dance numbers to be presented tomorrow afternoon and on Friday evening by Miss G. Bushell’s pupils.
