NEW GERMAN ARMY
FIRST CONSCRIPTED RECRUITS. IN BEST PHYSICAL CONDITION. ENTHUSIASM IN COUNTRY. (United Press Association—Copyright). (Received This Day, 12.10 p.m.) BERLIN, June 17. The first conscripted recruits, numbering 350,000, born in 1914, reported for medical examination to-day. An equal number born in 1915 will later be medically examined for labour service, in which they must serve prior to joining the army. The recruits are cheerful and enthusiastic, and a high percentage are reported to be in the best physical condition. The birth of the new army is raising enthusiasm throughout the country. Thousands of youths are volunteering for service.
