THE METHVEN ASSOCIATION. The Methven A. and P. Association committee met on Friday evening. Present—Messrs G. Gallaghan (president), G. Kelly, A. McLeod, O. H. "Watson, J. Wootton, A. M. Hart, B. J.' Steffens, R. Dart, L. L. Richards, W. G. Lowery, S. Campbell, H. Green, and B. A. Bland. The president stated that the subcommittee had met representatives of the County Flopk Ewe Competition, and it had been agreed to join in with this competition. Their action was endorsed, and the following judges were appointed:— Messrs B. C. Todhunter, F. S. McDonald, L. L. Richards. Messrs Callaghan and Kelly were appointed to meet the Ashburton Association to finalise particulars. In reference to the affairs and control of the Clydesdale Horse Society it was decided to support the action of the Canterbury A. and P. Association in endeavouring, to have the headquarters of the Society shifted to the South Island in view of the preponderence of members. , The question of the accumulated finances of the Society was also dis-cussed,-and it was considered that some alteration should be made. It was- also decided to recommend that the Society should import one good stallion into the Dominion annually. The Department of Agriculture wrote in reference to liftinig of the stock embargo on imported animals from Great Britain. It was decided to adhere to the Association's previous protest against any general importation of stock from Great Britain. The secretary presented a statement of accounts for the recent annual presentation of cups social, which showed a satisfactory credit balance. Mr Green (treasurer), statement of accounts and balancesheet for the past year's work, and it was decided to have copies printed and circulated. _ It was decided to install the ingii pressure water supply system to the hall, and that the annual meeting of the Association be held on Monday, July 8, to be followed by a smoke concert. ■ The resignation of Mr W. *. ±teynolds as 'a member of the Association was reecived with regret. It was decided to place on record Mi- Reynolds services to the Association as a committeeman over a lengthy period or years. , ,„ . The Methven Young Farmers Club were granted the use of the hall for meeting purposes. Nominations for the committee ioi the ensuing year are:—Messrs S. ±l. Anderson, §.' Campbell,.R. G. M. Dart, Geo. As the number required is only 20, a ballot will be necessary. For the offices ox president, vice-president, and hon treasurer Messrs G. Kelly, A. A. Mc'Leod, and H. Green have been returned unopposed. THE MAYFIELD ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Mayfield Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held in its rooms on Saturday evening, Mr J. Blair presiding over a fair attendAIIC6. The annual meeting was fixed for Monday, July 8. . The sub-committee reported that arrangements for the judging of the flock ewe competition had been finalised. Judging would take place on June 27 a-nd 28. . The following judges were appointed for the flock ewe competition: Messrs A. N. Grigg, G. B. Murdoch and L. R. Harrison. A letter was received from the Unemployment Board asking for information regarding any contemplated building. It was decided to reply ■stating that there is no building campaign in view.
