RESTORATION OF "CUTS." NO POWER TO STOP BOARDS. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 1. Commenting on the attitude of the chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board regarding the restoration of the first 10 per cent, wages cut, Sir Alexander Young said there was no power to prevent boards restoring cuts, but if cuts were restored over the amount of the Government wage restoration scale, the extra cost would have to be borne by the ratepayers and would not lie reflected in the Government subsidy to the board.
