The worst danger in the flooded areas has passed. Householders are returning to jtheir homes, which on Tuesday were under water.

Serious damage has heen done to pastures. The flooded state of the river Yarra is still causing considerable inconvenience to shipping, while high seas are running along the coast, resulting in inter-state steamers being many hours behind schedule.
