IMPERIAL AIR MAILS.
THE SERVICE TO AUSTRALIA. SEVEN DAYS FROM LONDON. (United Press Association— Copyright.' LONDON, April 30. Sir Frederick Williamson (Directoi of Postal Service), interviewed on his return from Australia, expressed giatification at the Commonwealth’s adherence to the principle of the Imperial air mail scheme, which he still hopes will be operative in 1937, bringing Sydney within seven days of London. ‘Technical negotiations are proceeding between the British and Australian" Post Office and Treasury officials. Sir Frederick Williamson hopes that agreement on the outstanding financial problems will be expedited in view of the time needed to provide a new fleet of aircraft necessary to operate high-speed services.
The Australian Ministers are apparently awaiting the arrival of Captain Johnston before raising the matter with Whitehall.
