THE WEATHER.
BRIGHT SUNSHINE AFTER FROST After a frost of five degrees intensity this morning, brilliant sunshine prevailed to-day. The temperature was pleasantly warm. Three points of rain fell last night, when a misty shower was experienced about 9 o'clotik. The barometric pressure at 9 o'clock this morning was 29.76 inches, and maximum and minimum temperatures in the shade yesterday werp 52.8 'degrees amd 37 degrees. TO-DAY'S FORECAST. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, ThisJDajr. The Government Meteorologist, _at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference: An anti-cyclone of very slight intensity is located over the north Tasman Sea and northern New Zealand, and pressure is rising to the eastward. A deep and extensive depression is, however, advancing across the south Tasman. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:
Light variable winds soon, tending northerly and gradually freshening. Weather fair and becoming milder. Seas moderate.
