PROTEST AGAINST EVICTIONS. 'Per PlreßS Association). CHRISTCHURCH,, April 29.; I Protests against the eviction of. returned soldiers from their houses and porperties were, made at the annual meeting to-nighti of the Christchureh Returned Soldiers' Association. A motion was carried urging the incoming executive to do its utmost te see that all returned men who had purchased homes in boom times should be given every assistance to retain them. The meeting also carried a resolution requesting Headquarters to .endeavour to obtain from the Canteen Funds Board at least £25,000 and from the War Funds Council £20,000 for the relief of unemployed returned soldiers during the next 12 months. Support was given to a resolution that, in view 'of returning prosperity, the Government be asked to restore the cuts.in economic and dependents pensions.... '
