THE KING’S JUBILEE.

Sir,—The Boy Scouts of Great Britain and throughout the Dominions are lighting bonfires next Monday (May 6) as part of the celebrations of the King’s Jubilee. The New Zealand Scouts are joining in by lighting fires at 8 o’clock on that evening. We would be grateful if any farmers who have straw stacks to be burned would save them until then, and help us by lighting them at that time, if weather conditions are suitable. We would also be grateful if any farmers or others who have a plentiful supply of tree tops or ether fuel would get into touch with their local troop of Scouts so that they may gather it in readiness for their fires. E. A. OSMERS, Commissioner, Mid-Canterbury District, Dominion Boy fScouts. Meth.ven, April 29, 1935.
