A large country house, one of the finest in Parkes, was wrecked during the week-end by an explosion which scattered debris around the neighbourhood. Fire broke out immediately and swept' through the building. Nearby houses were shaken and windows broken. The owner (Mr L. Mazoudier) and his family were away at the time. Detectives are unable to determine the origin of the explosion, which was heard throughout the district.
