CHURCHES OF CHRIST.
THE DOMINION CONFERENCE, WORLD CONVENTION INVITED. (Special to the " ', WELLINGTON, April 22. The next world convention of the Churches of* Christ will; be held., in New Zealand, if the invitation which will be extended at the Convention which assembles at Leicester, England, in August "next is accepted. The decision to invite the convention to New Zealand was reached at the annual conference of the Associated Churches of Christ of New Zealand, which continued its sittings at Wellington South on Saturday. Mr Milton Vickery, Wei lington, was appointed the official representative of the conference to that convention.
Dealing with the question of Home Missions, the conference decided that the executive committee of that department should give consideration to further evangelisation in certain districts. Special commendation was made regarding the achievements of the Gieymouth Church as having accepted full responsibility .for extension work in the Westland district, resulting in the establishment-of. two churches which were showing- marked spiritual progress. Mr Vickery presented the annual report of the Bible School Committee. It was stated that of 599 candidates who sat for the annual scripture examination, 16 were awarded prizes and 94 obtained honours, the^ average percentage of marks being 61. .Wans had been made for co-operation with the youth department towards an intensified programme for building up Bible schools, which were regarded as the church of the future. The work of the secretary to the committee, Mr Geo. Nelson, was eulogised. The following committee was re-elected for a further term: —Miss R. Hardwick, Messrs Hunter, Mathieson, Nelson, Vickery, Lowe, Knapp, Clark and Coulter.
