BAPTIST YOUNG WOMEN. THE ASHBURTON GATHERING. RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS. Tlie . iCantetrblury Baptist Young Women’s Bible Class Camp, held in the Ashburton Technical High School during the holidays, concluded this morning, when the 73 delegates from all parts of the province returned to their homes after a very enjoyable Aveek-end. The camp concert Avas held on Saturday evening, representatives from the various classes taking part. Impromptu speeches Aver© given, the results being as folloAv: —Junior: Subject, “Picnic. Winner, /Miss Sylvia Anderson (Timaru). Senior: Subject, ‘“(Should men reform their dress?” Winners, Misses M. Howarth, R. Barnett and M. Ansford (each to hold the trophy for three months). The campers attended both morning and evening services at the Ashburton Baptist Church on Sunday, the Rey. L. P. Bryan being the preacher. He Avas assisted by the girls. A Communion service Avas held in the church at 7.30 a.m; yesterday. During the day the results of the Richard Baker essay competition were announced, the subject being “The Life Story of Wheat from Seed to Bread and the use made of it by Christ in His Teaching.” The winners were: Junior, Miss Peggy NeAvman; senior, Miss Ester M. Heney. Greetings Avere received! from the Rev. and Mrs C. S. Matthews, from the Canterbury young men’s camp at Kirwee, frofii the Wellington young women’s camp and from Mrs Ray Turner (Roslyn). The sports were held yesterday afternoon, the Avinner of the shield (most points) being Greendale. Cups and trophies Avere presented last evening.
